Stephanie, “Pezz”, was a standout soccer player through her prep years before becoming a 4 year starter at national powerhouse Penn State. After graduation Pezz played semi-pro soccer in Charlotte before catching ZAP head coach Pete Rea’s eye and subsequently turning her attention to running. Pezz caught on very quickly and qualified for the US Indoor National Championships within a few short weeks of training. Pezz gravitated toward the 3000m Steeplechase outdoors and suffered a severe ankle injury that derailed her running for nearly 2 years. Upon her return to racing she qualified for the final of the steeplechase at the US National Championships in both 2010 and 2011 before turning her attention to the longer distances. Pezz went on to run 1:13 in her half marathon debut, taking 9th at the US Championships in 2012 before making her marathon debut at Chicago where she ran one of the fastest debuts in American history, clocking 2:32:42 and stamping herself as one of the best marathoners in the country. Pezz is now back at ZAP Fitness-Reebok where she started her career as she eyes the 2016 US Olympic Marathon Trials.
